Tolkien question from Harold Federow on 2000-01-21 (CNI-COPYRIGHT)

I'm on the board of a puppet center here in Seattle who is interested in doing a show based on the Hobbit. They've tried to get a response from an entity something like "Tolkien Enterprises" (I'm not sure I got the name right) in California (I think they said Berkeley) that supposedly controls US rights to get the appropriate license, but they can't get a response. Anyone know anything about them?
