I have a few instructors who have requested that I put the same articles on reserve for them every semester. After much discussion, I was finally able to convince them that Fair Use only applies to the first semester and after that, they need to get permission.
In order to help them I am trying to draft a sample letter to publishers asking copyright permission specifically for putting articles on reserve for a course. I'm not really sure what to put into it though. Everyone that I've talked to so far has said that they know what to ask for if it's for a course pak, but they have no idea what to do with reserve items.
Do any of you have any suggestions? I'd really appreaciate any help that I can get with this.
