In the United States, copyright in a motion picture is held by the studio that produced the film -- in this case, Universal Studios. If memory serves, however,THE BIRDS may have been one of the films acquired by Ted Turner for the Turner Classic Movies collection a few years back. I'd try calling Turner first; if they don't own it, it probably belongs to Universal.

Turner = 404-827-1700
Universal = 818-777-1000
