copyright at root of brokers' battle

Dear Listmates,

You never know how valuable a list like this can be until you use the information in it. For the last 10 months, I was falsely accused of 3 felonies. The 6th DA to the case wanted me to plea to a misdemeanor. I said "no". It was from the information obtained in this list that gave me the confidence to know that I was right. I learned about work for hire and other copyright issues. I did file and received a copyright for my software. I have filed a copyright infringement suit. The police have kept my computer since May 4, 1999 and all peripherals and the program and still have it. But because of many of you I fought the good fight and won. It was your collective wisdom that gave me the confidence to say "no" even when my attorneys thought it was best to take the misdemeanor. I did not blame them because the evidence in the form of the disks were not given to them until the 8th month. They then agreed with me that the data was not blocked, but only a field would appear that said "This program is no longer licensed".

Thank you all,

Greg Erkins
