Re: droit de suite

Dear CNI-COPYRIGHT Readers,

I'm beginning to have the definite feeling that the thread on "droit de suite" may have run its course. Especially in the last few days, there seems to be much more smoke and fire than actual light being shed. And there are a number of spurious hypotheticals (abolishing copyright) being bandied about, which is usually a good sign focus is deteriorating. Therefore, after Saturday's postings of this week, I'm going to call a halt (or at least a brief hiatus) to the "droit de suite" thread.

I've only done this three or four times since the CNI-COPYRIGHT list started in 1992. Inevitably, there is one person who is so disgusted a "moderator" would do this, s/he feels compelled to leave the list. If you need instructions on unsubscribing, feel free to write and ask... but spare me the sermon on censorship.

You all have a couple of days to wrap it up (although it seems to me we're probably all better off admitting there is simply some difference of opinion). I would especially like to welcome summary postings, if anybody feels able and willing to try.

Given that the EU seems to be moving forward with artist(s) resale rights, I am sure the issues will come up again (and again, and again)... B^)
