On Thu, 18 May 2000, Eric Eldred <eldred[_at_]eldritchpress.org> quoted
a page from Norm Jones' History of Christianity web site:
>
> "Tradition has it that after founding several other
> monasteries, Columba copied St. Finnian's psalter without
> the permission of Finnian, and thus devalued the book. [Holy
> Books were carried into battle as standards for Irish clans.]"
a digression:
if i remember correctly, James O'Donnell mentions in his excellent book Avatars_of_the_Word that he is a distant relative of St. Columba and that his family has the "Cathach" that once held this infamous book.

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)
