Members of this list have kindly contributed to developing
the case Eldred v Reno to overthrow the 1998 U.S.
Copyright Term Extension Act.
At this time I'd like to again ask for help, in preparing the oral arguments in the case for Thursday, October 5, in Washington, D.C. Appeals court judges will be Ginsberg, Sentelle, and Henderson. Relevant court papers and other material are online at http://eon.law.harvard.edu/eldredvreno
If you do have ideas about the case (on either one side or the other) please do communicate them in the OpenLaw discussion, or directly to my attorney, Larry Lessig, at lessig[_at_]pobox.com (he has moved from Harvard to Stanford, but continues the case). In particular, law students can contribute just as much as professors--all of us learn from these cases and the discussion.
I hope to have a National Public Radio interview with Rick Karr broadcast on the day of the hearing. If you can think of writing letters to the editor or other techniques to promote public understanding of copyright issues, please do so. Napster and the MP3 cases seem to have stolen the public spotlight, but the implications of those cases on copyright law are much different.
