Dear colleagues,
I weas very glad to read about the recent discussion on "happy birthday". I have checked the legal situation in Germany and found out that the song is still under protection under German law (due to a lot of complexe international treaties and EU regulations). I cannot prove that idea writing in English as that would take a lot of pages. But I have written an article for a book in honour of my colleague Otto Sandrock for his 70th birthday (so this was a good opportunity to deal with that topic). The article has been written unfortunately in German. If you are however interested, I can send the WORD text to you. Just give me a mail.

Best regards Thomas Hoeren
