I just produced a massive document that addresses the safe and responsible use of the Internet in schools. I had no funding to produce the document. It was important that the guide be dissiminated as rapidly as possible. So I placed the document online with the following notice:

 2001 Nancy E. Willard
This work is distributed as "Honor Text." Permission to copy and distribute for non-profit, educational purposes is granted. Districts, schools, or others organizations that make use of this Planning Guide and template materials are requested to submit payment to the Center for Advanced Technology in Education at the address above. The amount requested is $200 to $250, depending on size and financial status (self-determined). The Center can provide an invoice of P.O. if necessary.

No checks so far. But I did use the same distribution method in the mid 90s with some other Internet use policy materials I developed. And I received checks from many school districts.

In case any of you work with schools and are dealing with CIPA, the guide is online at: http://netizen.uoregon.edu/documents/cipa.html
