Login Sequences Protected?

  Hello,

Assume a software program uses a specific FTP login and password combination in order to allow other installations of the software to communicate to it.

Also assume the sequence is sent unencrypted and can easily be viewed without using a circumvention device, or can be seen using standard network monitoring software.

Further assume the sequence includes a password based on the IP address of the workstation it is installed on.

Would using the sequence to build a compatible system capable of logging into the software to perform similar or add enhanced functionality a violation?
