I confess that I lack great faith in common sense, a hallmark of utilitarianism and pragmatism. (I can hear people saying, "O ye of little faith!") Nancy Willard mentioned in her post dated Aug. 12, 2002 that there is a force in copyright that works toward the balance between authors and users. It sounds like a fantasy in _Star Wars_ where there is "the" force behind everything. Or, it could be possible that copyright has unseen force or spirit that will place the fulcrum at the proper place eventually. I don't know whether to believe it.
