Both. If a department brings in a job and it is accompanied by a copyright permission, I make a copy of the job ticket and put both of them in a file. When I get several, I bind them and put them on a shelf a few years. For our protection and the customer. I have other permissions in paper form and on electronic file. I know I may be over cautious, but since I'm a one woman department (copyright), I will continue to do this.
Hope this help.

Subject: Copyright permission location
This is to any individuals working at academic institutions. Where on campus do you keep your copyright permissions and in what form? Do you keep them in a single office or department? Do you keep them in paper or electronic form?
Any information you might be able to provide would be most helpful.
Thanks!
