Requiring attribution with the force of law is a very distant cousin of censorship. With such law, you are forced to either be silent or copy words only with attribution. Else, you can be jailed all just for copying words without attribution. In this case, there is no true freedom of speech and press.

If I build a bookcase, I don't have to tell where I get wood, nail, and paint. Likewise, I don't have to tell where I get words, phrases, and sentences except such action may result in copyright infringement.
