Jane la Plante replies, with regard to the professor's source of the poems in question:
>> These poems have been posted on various educational sites on the
>> Internet, always with the attribution "author unknown." They appear to
>> be modern-- say within the last 20 years, so they wouldn't have passed
>> into the public domain.
Again speaking not as a lawyer but as an author and editor: I wouldn't use them. If they were created within the past 20 years, they're copyright-protected. The fact that someone posted them initially without attribution (we can't know whether that was with or without the author's permission), and that a number of others unwisely reposted them, doesn't make further such posting (or publishing) right or fair, IMO.
