Since the term of copyright already extended many years past the author's death, short of cryogenics or reincarnation, it's hard to imagine how a living artist could get any benefit from the decision.
Despite all the smoke blown, the CTEA is a giveaway to a small group of corporations and heirs who happen to have the rights to a handful of works from the 1920s that still are popular.
