The Library of Congress continues to have its mail irradiated, which causes a delay in receipt and presumably, processing. A couple of ways to avoid having a check returned after the 90-day period follow:

1.   Hand-deliver (or hire someone to deliver) your registration to the Copyright Office and receive proof of filing.  Your payment will be received and cancelled the same day.  FYI: Checks are now scanned and money is electronically debited from the payor's checking account.

2.   Open a deposit account at the Copyright Office.  Minimum requested balance is $250.
