OK, this is a new thing for me: does anyone have any advice for
obtaining permissions to use single images from various commercial
films in an educational PowerPoint presentation? I wouldn't even ask
for classroom use permission, but this is supposed to be posted to our
intranet as a supplemental resource.

Laurie - Wouldn't this be covered by new Section 110(2), as amended by the TEACH Act? It requires all sorts of conditions (password-protection to limit the use to students enrolled in the class, for example), but if you are willing and able to comply with the conditions, this seems the sort of use that is intended to be covered.
