Nothing on the part about statistics, but in the US, it's pretty much the authority on the "subject to copyright" part.
And while I don't know of any statistical studies, I'd be pretty surprised to find that more than a small minority of the usenet binaries postings, including the photos groups, are by the authority of the copyright owners.
