C-in-a-circle is going to be difficult to render in computer code, much of which uses plain old ASCII (of the 7-bit variety). I seem to be able to insert a © in this email message, but that depends on what mail program I'm using, and I couldn't have done that 15 years ago. It's really a question of typography, an odd thing for the law to dictate.
