I trust you've checked the various WIPO offerings such as "Introduction to Intellectual Property Theory and Practice", which has an international perspective; also you may want to consider "A Coursebook in International Intellectual Property" or "The International Intellectual Property System: Commentary and Materials" as secondary sources to get you started.
