The relationship between a cartoonist and another party, whether author, publisher or otherwise, involves a number of important issues including but not limited to issues relating to rights, rights of termination of transfer, royalties or not (including how those royalties might impact of the validity of any work made for hire agreement" contemplated by the parties) and other issues.

There are a number of articles on my site you might want to read including but not limited to "The Artist/Illustrator Contract," "Work Made for Hire Agreements" and "The Fundamental Principle Under the United States Copyright Law." Click on "Articles for Writers and Publishers."
