you put your finger exactly on the sore spot: many companies will balk at a non-disclosure agreement unless they know you or know about you and are very keen on what you are doing... if they balk, you have no choice, don't go there.... basically they are telling you "loop back to previous position", i.e. develop your idea further, build a prototype, which means finding someone you can trust and perhaps share authorship with... as a previous post noted, it's about bringing your idea forward, not protecting it

have no illusions, there is no shortage of good ideas out there
