Not a lawyer either, but speaking based on my understanding of the law rather than just on what I would want people to do:

  1. as long as this is a plain listing, I would think it would lack any copyright protection
  2. a fair use analysis would need to be done for each item. In a two page pamphlet, a few paragraphs might be too much. In a 300 page book, I would think it would likely be ok as long as the paragraphs chosen aren't the sole point of the book.
  3. again, I would think that a fair use analysis would need to be done to determine whether or not this was ok.
