I am a member of the Authors' Guild, and although I agree with most of what they do, they are a bunch of hysterical Luddites. A few years ago I recall an article in their newsletter about a photocopying machine that can turn the pages of the original, and you would have thought that this infernal device would cause the end of civilization as we know it. They see just about any new technology as just another way to deprive poor authors of the absolute copying monopoly that they imagine their members to have.
They do use e-mail, and they sent out a notice about the Google suit, to which I immediately replied telling them that I do not want to be part of any class that the suit purports to establish.
