Unless you are using it to identify goods or services offered for sale, or have plans to use it that way, you don't.

The Trademark office registers trademarks. Pictures, no matter how nice, aren't trademarks unless you're using them to mark something.

I notice you work at a law library, so perhaps you could snag an IP lawyer who comes in and ask for a better explanantion.
