Music Copyright Infringement by Restaurants

I am doing some research on copyright infringement by restaurants who have live music (performers playing cover songs) but do not pay a license to the ASCAP or BMI. Does anyone have any internet reseources/websites that may help me out. I've already checked out ASCAP & BMI.
I would like to find out about previous lawsuits filed & if they were settled, what federal copyright law states the penalties can be per song,
anything else along these lines.
