Loss of deposit materials by Copyright Office

Does anyone have experience in a litigation matter where the Copyright Office has lost/misplaced the deposit materials associated with the registration for the work at issue?  Is anyone aware of authority that would support the conclusion that the registration has lost its effect of establishing prima facie ownership of the work?  How should a plaintiff whose registration has suffered the loss of the deposit materials seek to remedy the situation?
