Dear Mr. Riolo:
My reason for bringing the question here was simply to ask for assistance from people who know more about copyright than I. My intent is not to create any kind of policy for this list at all. My reason for asking for permission to link was so that the helpful replies I expected to and have received could be shared with those on wikipedia. From what I'm hearing, it appears that I have picked up the wrong idea about the first factor at least. Since you do not want me to link, as I said in the query, I'm not about to link to this conversation from wikipedia. I will simply summarize the insights I learned here.
Bob

It was my original intention to keep my objection extremely short-lived. Here, let it be known to all people, now and in the future, that I withdraw my objection completely and irrevocably.
I would encourage Mr. Smith to withdraw his question lest anyone else, now or in the future, wants to object to the link to this thread, unless he considers the question non-binding.
