The University of Texas at San Antonio Library is providing online bibliogra-
phic information for a very large number of articles on music. The people who
built the collection of articles would like to be able to provide copies
of them to individual scholars throughout the world. The compilers of the
collection have photocopies of the articles we cataloged, and they would
like to have the Library provide the copies. We do not subscribe to all of
the journals from which the articles were taken. We would want to charge our
normal copying fee (the amount charged for machine copying in the Library).
We would LIKE to recover staff costs, as well, although we would not expect
to make a profit for this service.
Is it legal for us to make the copies? Thank you for your advice.
