This question from a correspondent, who is interested in insights
from CNI-COPYRIGHT readers. Thanks, Ann Okerson/ARL -----------------------forwarded message-------------------------------
I just noticed on logon that my NotaBene has a script like this when you start up: "Program licensed to James J. O'Donnell. Simultaneous use on more than one computer forbidden. Please respect the copyright." All that in a box on the center of the screen that stays there while it finishes loading.
Now that simultaneous use language, that's license not copyright, right? But the juxtaposition of things, asserting no untruth, *suggests* that the restrictive provisions of the license are part of the copyright package and that your obedience is not that of a willing participant in a contract but of a loyal citizen obeying The Law.
This does not seem accurate or correct language for the producer to use? I would welcome your thoughts.
