This is yet another example concerning the deplorable situation of law in the United States. The judges, juries, and courts are paid for by the U.S. taxpayer. All the records are in the public domain. West has been making lots of money for the last 115 years publishing these things without giving the government one red cent. This is o.k., but now they are suing another company for wanting to do the same thing, but in a better format, cd-rom. Come on now. The primary purpose of the courts is not to enrich the West Publishing Company. But since West has more money than the other company they can bankrupt the other company in its attempt to defend itself even though they may lose the suit. And there is nothing the other company can do.

I would like to see all of the federal and state reports on cd-rom. In addition to the convenience of the cd-rom format and the drastically reduced cost, think of the hundreds of thousands of trees that will be spared.
