I seem to remember a case where someone authored a work. He then
assigned the copyright to someone else. After the assisgnment, he
created a second work in which he used some of the same expression
that he used in the first work. The person to whom he assigned
the first copyright then sued him for infringement and won.
My memory about this case is highly selective which is very frustrating.
I think it was a case involving music, but I am not certain.
If someone can remember the citation or assist my memory by
providing more facts, it may
be relevant to the question raised earlier on self plagiarism.
