TELECOMMUNICATIONS POLICY
RESEARCH CONFERENCE

HOLIDAY INN, SOLOMONS, MARYLAND The Telecommunications Policy Research Conference (TPRC) is an annual forum for dialogue among scholars engaged in publishable research on policy-relevant telecommunications issues and public and private sector decisionmakers engagedin making telecommunications policy. The purpose of the conference is to acquaint policymakers with the best of recent research in telecommunications, and to familiarize researchers with the knowledge needs of policymakers.
TPRC is soliciting research papers for presentation at its 22nd annual conference. TPRC welcomes paper abstracts that are U.S. and non-U.S. in origin concerning national, international or comparative studies. Subject areas of particular interest include (but are not limited to):
Spectrum Auction Design
Competitive Entry in the Local Loop
Competitive Entry in Video Markets
Interconnection of Networks
Network Standards and Intellectual Property Rights
Patent Reform and the Information Infrastructure
Economic Development and Information Infrastructure
Political Economy of Global Alliances in Communications Industries
Experiences with Alternatives to Rate Regulation
Impact of Re-regulation of Cable Television
Internet Pricing and Interconnection Agreements
Effect of Regulation on Innovation
Universal Service
Market Structure and Ownership Diversity in the Mass Media
The Future of Libraries in the Digital Age
The First Amendment as a Form of Regulation
Self vs. Government Regulation of Sex and Violence in the Mass Media
Papers should be based on current research on theoretical and/or empirical issues relevant to the making of telecommunications policy. Submissions should consist only of abstracts of the proposed paper, typewritten, double-spaced, and no more than 500 words. Submissions must be received no later than March 30, 1994.
