I write training material for faculty/staff at a community college. In the past I have attended workshops which include materials written by Instructional Designer or Trainer. Included in these materials (in appendices) are various copies of pertinent magazine articles. These articles might come from Training and Development; Tech Trends; CBT Directions; Psychology Today; and Training just to name a few magazines. I find it useful. Some of the issues are not current, some are but I don't subscribe to those magazines and these readings allow me to keep abreast of new ideas and current information or old but useful information. The copies are intact, with all names and information there. (Article about the 4MAT System; Kolb inventory and how it was used in a classroom setting;artcles Mager wrote about objectives etc. are some that were included.)
I would like to insert several mag. articles in my various workshops materials also. I do not intend to sell the materials and they are all used in house. Do I have a copyright problem? Does educational use or fair use suffice for my needs? Or...do I need to get in touch with every author whose article I want to include and get permission? Usually, my workshops are small (4-6 participants) and are offered 2-3 times a year.
Thanks for your info!
