I think that Peter Cannell has turned the conversation in precisely the right direction. Since all law is based on precedent, it would be most useful to learn of the various limits that courts have imposed on "educational" use. I suspect that there are a great number of stories of people who widely photocopy and digitize under the auspices of "fair use" that go unrecorded, mostly out of fear that publicizing those stories would bring unwanted attention. What would be interesting would be stories of failed prosectution, where the limits of "educational use" were established, in only provisionally.
