I want to formulate a suitable "copyleft" for scientific papers,
similar to the GNU project copyleft for software. (The GNU
copyleft allows anyone to copy the program, but they cannot
restrict further distribution.) Unfortunately, the GNU copyleft
is now about 5 pages long, and I'd like something that would fit
in a paragraph at the bottom of page 1. (Also the GNU version has
stuff particular to computer programming, warrantee disclaimer, etc.)
My first try is
(c) copyright 1994 Richard Schroeppel
This paper, or any portion, may be freely copied, provided
(1) this entire copyright notice is included, and
(2) no further copyright may be asserted over the copy,
including collection copyright, and
(3) any copyright notice on accompanying or surrounding material
must make it clear that this paper is excluded from the
other copyright notice, and
(4) the phrase "the original version of this article may be
obtained from Scientific Bulgarian magazine, July 1994" is included.
This is already too long, and I'm not sure I've covered all the bases. Suggestions welcome.
