A colleague and I are interested in accessing 19th century patent records. The patent office is a maze of telephone choices concerned with *filing* patents. Any ideas? My interest is daguerreotype plate manufacture, my colleague's interest is the Wheatstone stereo viewer.

Someone has suggested there might be a patent library in Santa Clara or Sunnyvale, CA (Silicon Valley area). Anyone know if this is accurate? If so, would they have 19th century materials?

Thank you for your assistance!

Yours,
