Service mark --> used on services; use SM when not federally registered

Trademark --> used on goods; use TM when not fed. registered.

(R) --> use when the mark is federally registered.

I believe the same R in a circle is used for both trade- and service marks. Anybody else know for sure?

SM and TM have no particular legal significance, other than that they inform anyone who wants to know that the owner intends to assert trademark rights.
