APPOINMENT OF DEPUTY REGISTER

      Librarian  of   Congress   James   H.  Billington  announced  the
      appoinment of  Mary Berghaus Levering  to  the  new  position  of
      Deputy  Register  of Copyrights effective  April  4,  1994.   The
      Deputy  Register  is responsible for  managing  the  day  to  day
      operations of  the Copyright Office and,  in  the absence of  the
      Register, fully assumes his/her responsibilities.
      
      Barbara  Ringer continues to  serve  as  the  acting Register  of
      Copyrights while the Library recruits for a new Register.
