Student grad. work

Hi all,

I hope someone can answer a question I have. I am a grad. student at a state univ. I am doing my project to graduate and it looks like as I finish the project it will be some thing that I will be able to sell to people when I finish. My question is who has copyright over the project? It's my idea, but does the univ. have any legal tie to it because I am a student.
