Duration of copyright is still tied to a set number of years where the
copyright owner is a corporation, a most publishers are.

It is common practice for books printed in the last month of a year
show the following year in the copyright statement on the theory that
they would not be available from the warehouse or distributed until
the following year. It has led to some interesting discussions
     internally.

Duration of copyright no longer is tied to an exact number of years. Duration = life of author plus 50 years.
