Not entirely so. The law states that for works made for hire, or anonymous/pseudonymous works where the author's identity is not revealed in the records of the Copyright Office, copyright lasts for 75 years from publication or 100 years from creation, whichever is shorter. [17USC302(c)] So the year *CAN* still be significant in many instances.
