The copyright duration is fixed only for *works made for hire* (as
well as anonymous and pseudonymous works), and not all works where the *copyright owner* is a corporation.

   For works written by individuals and then sold to corporations -- and I had thought (perhaps incorrectly?) that most books, perhaps setting aside technical manuals, fell in this category -- the term is still life plus fifty. 17 USC 302.
