I would appreciate any quick replies to this query today . I am writing a fiction novel that is only three fourths complete. I have arranged to meet with a person tomorrow who is going to perform some word processing corrections on the document to make it "manuscript worthy" and who will also be hired to proof it and do some editing on it in the future. I have no previous experience with this person, she was recommended by a mutual friend.
Can people on the listserve suggest the wording I might use in a short simple contract protecting me from this editor stealing my plot or any of the content of my novel? I have been told that my novel is not copyrighted until I have finished it. The editor is a published author and I am paranoid about losing my idea to somebody who might beat me to a publisher. Am I making much ado about nothing? I have briefly discussed my fears with the editor, and she said she would be willing to sign some sort of copyright agreement with me.
Forgive me if there is some simple form available for purchase. I'm new to all this and not a lawyer.
Thanks for replying directly to me!
