Project Gutenberg is a world wide volunteer project that converts public domain texts to electronic form for free distribution over the internet. One of the most difficult parts of the project is making sure that it abides by all the copyright laws in the various countries where the volunteers are located and where the various servers are located. At present, most of the volunteer lawyers are in the United States and are most familar with US law. Our language abilities are also somewhat limited. The Project really needs a volunteer lawyer fluent in German and very familiar with the duration of German copyright for the last hundred years or so to assist the newly established site in Germany. It also needs volunteer lawyers fluent in French and French copyright law, Spanish and Spanish copyright law, Swedish and Swedish copyright law, and just about any other combination you can think of. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please send me a private message.
