The question raised by Lolly Gasaway about whether a publisher can
rely on the Texaco case if their publications are not registered with
CCC raises other concerns. From the publisher's standpoint, there are
instances where the publisher CANNOT register a publication with CCC
-- such as an electronic journal, a journal that the publisher does
not want document delivery companies to license through CCC, or a
publication where some authors retain copyright rather than transfer
the necessary rights to the publisher.
