I received a posting on this subject that appeared to be an entire (although very short) story from the AP Wire. I didn't post it because AP wire stories are copyrighted and usually commercially exploited and there was no evidence of consent to post. But working from memory, here is a summary of what it said.
Two bulletin boards were raided in Pennsicola. The FBI was looking for obscene material. According to at least one of the bulletin board owners, they did not find what they were looking for. The boards were distributing pictures which according to one owner included women clothed in swimsuits and t-shirts.
According to one of the operators, he used to have a CD that included nude photos posted but he removed it 6 months ago when he learned that transmitting nude photos might be against the law.
The article named the BBSs, but my memory isn't that good. There was no mention of copyright in the short article, though it seems to me that it is quite likely that photos in swimsuits and t-shirts were copyrighted even if they were not obscene, especially if they came off a commercial CD.
