Liability of BBSs

Please do not make such offers or requests for material through the list without some indication of whether the material is copyrighted. Although there may be an argument that sharing news stories with a single friend might be fair use, I don't think offering copyrighted material to all the subscribers of this list could be fair use. So I would prefer not to post offers to send copies of copyrighted material. Thus, in order to avoid putting a damper on sharing information in the public domain, I need some indication that the material is in the public domain.
