I am currently researching situations that may be analogous to the copyright questions that arise in the area of multilingual terminology documentation. To be considered fully valid as proof of accuracy, multilingual equivalents in terminology compilations are supposed to be accompanied by short, but fully accurate contextual references (quotations) and definitions. Needless to say, all manner of copyright questions arise when large collections include many different citations from many sources. Other problems occur when data are merged to form composite collections. Even assuming good will on the part of everyone involved (which, reality being what it is, is of course not always the case), management of attributions and royalties can be a nightmare. We are currently looking to ASCAP and similar environments for guidance. An immediate question I have is whether the ASCAP/BMI standard contract is available anywhere on the NET for downloading. Is there any kind of copyright homepage on www? Any good resource on precisely what constitutes fair use in a variety of circumstances?

Has information on the KnowRight '95 conference in Vienna been posted on this list? I joined the list after this information was posted to other venues, so I didn't do anything here, but would gladly provide that information to anyone who missed it earlier on.

Thanks for any suggestions & input!
