Folks, you still have time to speak up on copyright and K-12--just by filling out a form on the Web. The survey deadline has been extended to at least Oct. 5, and you'll have more time if you indicate you need it.
This is for a paper I'm doing with help from the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN). Replies received after Oct. 5 will still be helpful for the purpose of discussion by educators and others.
Just what kind of copyright law do you want in an era of global networks and multimedia? That's an example of the topics I'm covering in a K-12 context.
Go to http://www.cosn.org and follow the link to Technology Resources. Please note that the files are still being debugged (excuse the typos, etc.), but you'll have what you need to register your opinions.
You can also email me for a form (for example, if you lack a forms-capable browser such as Netscape).
If so, indicate which version you want. The three choices are: (1) a short form for K-12-related folks, including parents and librarians, (2) a longer form for them, and (3) a form for copyright holders and distributors of copyrighted works.
I'm grateful for the thoughtful responses I've received so far. Because the survey was late getting on the CoSN server, I thought it would be appropriate to extend the deadline. Thanks, and I'd encourage folks to spread this note around!
